Cabbage patch

Folklore and modern medicine mix in Romania. Almost every street seems to have a pharmacy, with herbal remedies alongside painkillers and antacids that would be familiar in Boots. Many are herbalists who sell a few products from the major drug houses. Plants collected in the countryside are known for thier medicinal properties ahead of their culinary ones. With a swollen foot I am sampling traditional Romanian healing at first hand. Cabbage leaves are the first answer for joint swelling. They feel cool and soothing though once bandaged with cloth to keep them in place my foot looks like John Hurt's makeup for the Elephant Man.
